Financing your ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Studies
As a private business university and not-for-profit organization, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ is financed exclusively through tuition fees. These fees are used to continuously improve the quality of teaching, extend the service offerings for students and alumni and to invest in equipment.
We have scholarship programs that are open to all our students to apply and offer many forms of financial support. There is also the possibility of applying for external scholarships. We have also listed all the other common options of funding your studies in Germany on this page below. How to finance your studies at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½
Studying at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ is a worthwhile investment due to its high practical content, with lecturers who are experts and and managers in the business world, integrated internships and international experience included into your studies. Whether scholarships, student loans, BAföG or education funds: Future students have various options for financing their full-time studies at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½. For yourÌýsemester or internship abroad which is often an integral part of your studies, you also have the opportunity to apply for a variety of scholarships, Erasmus+ program being one of the most notable ones. The International Office is always available to help you with your application.
Scholarships for International Students in Germany
ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Scholarships
ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ supports particularly committed applicants and students in order to enable as many suitable candidates as possible to study at our private business university. Scholarships can be provided to Bachelor's and Master's full-time students to cover partially the tuition fees at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½. Partial scholarships of 25% up to 50% of the tuition fee (for a maximum duration of 1 year) are periodically awarded and a full scholarship for the duration of 2 semesters is also possible. The scholarships do not include financial support for private living expenses, travel costs, rent payments, learning materials etc.
In addition to demonstrable financial need, very good scholastic or academic performance and commitment outside of the courses are expected from the candidates. Interested students need to have already have passed the admission test when applying for the scholarship. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of ourÌýScholarship Regulations (PDF).
Criteria for awarding the scholarship:
- financial circumstances
- outstanding academic excellence and potential
- engagement in social, extra-curricular and university activities.
Application periods for scholarships:
Applications can be submitted with an already passed ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ admission test
- for upcoming spring term from November 15 - December 15
- for fall term from May 15 - June 15.
Dual and part-time students
High-achieving students in our dual Bachelor's programs, part-time Bachelor's and Master's programs, and MBA programs are also eligible for aÌý50% tuition waiver.

Government Scholarships
Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship)
The ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ also participates in the nationwide Deutschlandstipendium, which is a German public-private scholarship. Particularly talented and high-achieving students are supported with 300€ per month. Half of the funds come from the German federal government, the other half is financed by companies, foundations or private individuals.

External Scholarships
ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ international students, especially those from India, also have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship from the We Make Scholars (WMS) platform. We Make Scholars is a not-just-for-profit organization which is funded and supported by the Government of India that focuses on international education scholarships and funding.
WMS is one of the ways to fund your study abroad in Europe because it provides an online platform which allows you to apply to thousands of international scholarships and to get the best education loan that matches your needs.

Dortmunder-Volksbank-Foundation Scholarship
The Dortmunder-Volksbank-Foundation awards for each - spring and fall term - a semester abroad scholarship in the amount of 2500 Euro unique to 4th semester (Bachelor) or 3rd semester (Master) students of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ in Dortmund. In the 3rd Bachelor semester and 2nd Master semester the students choose from the university network of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ another university, where they spend their integrated term abroad.
Often the choice of a foreign university depends on the costs, course content and location of the partner university. Therefore, the Dortmunder-Volksbank-Foundation in cooperation with the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Funding CommitteeÌýwant to enable highly qualified students to choose the desired university without financial worries. Study Financing Options
There are also several options to finance your studies at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½:
Study first, pay later: The "Reverse Generation Contract" (UGV) is an innovative model for financing studies. The is available to students from full-time programs.
During their studies, students do not have to pay any or only pay a part of the tuition fees. After completing their studies, and only if they have reached a stable minimum income, those receiving support make an income-related contribution back to the . The amount of the repayments is linked to the income earned and thus to the personal ability to pay.
To apply, you need to be a citizen of a EU-country or hold a permanent, unrestricted work and resident permit for a EU-country. Basic knowledge of German is required as well. If you meet these requirements, you can apply.
When reviewing the applications, we pay close attention to your academic and practical experiences. The student contract with the university does not yet have to be signed.
These payments enable subsequent generations of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ students to complete their studies without the burden of tuition fees. In this way, the "old" finance the studies of the "young".
From the 5th Bachelor semester and for all Master students, there is also the possibility of using the Education Loan of the Federal German Education & Research Ministry (BMBF Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) at very favorable conditions, also for their time of studying abroad.
